Residential Construction Program

LIUNA Training has taken 47 years of commercial training experience and created a residential training program that covers quality building and energy efficiency practices. With millions of new single-family homes being built across North America each year, and millions of existing homes lacking proper insulation levels, our residential programs have never been more vital to the industry. In addition, homebuilding and renovation account for about half of all construction dollars spent, creating job opportunities for those with needed skills. Our Residential Construction Program provides workers with the skills they need today while providing homebuilders with a superior workforce for tomorrow.

Foundation

The foundation for LIUNA Training’s Residential Construction Program is formed by the Department of Labor approved Home Performance Laborer Apprenticeship Program. Here is where a new generation of workers can gain job experience and off-site training. For more on LIUNA Training’s two DOL apprenticeship programs, click here.

Building

Our Residential Construction Program covers skills needed for home construction and renovation work. The program introduces hand and power tools, basic carpentry, and the importance of building materials, plans, specifications and codes. The LIUNA Training Residential Construction Program also introduces materials and work practices that conserve and protect resources and make the home more environmentally friendly.

Energy Efficiency

Home efficiency has become a common but important term in the construction industry. While our Residential Construction Program includes efficient work practices, we also have a complete Weatherization Program. This intensive program offers knowledge and skills in Technician/Installer, Supervisor, and Energy Auditor.

All of our energy efficiency programs teach environmental safety including lead renovator and asbestos awareness. If needed, area training centers offer training for lead and asbestos removal certification.
