Environmental Remediation Overview
Never before has there been greater awareness of hazards that pose a threat to our health and environment. Nor has there been a greater need to minimize that risk and commit to undoing the damage already done. Hazardous waste from manufacturing, lead and asbestos building materials used during post World War growth, nuclear contamination from Cold War weapons development, biological hazards from flooding and poor building ventilation, and many other circumstances created problems that we will deal with for many generations.
Daily, thousands of dedicated men and women put their lives on the line to clean up contaminated buildings and property so that others can lead healthier lives. Government regulators such as OSHA and the EPA require safety training and provisions to protect these workers. All our training meets and usually exceeds federal and state regulations.

LIUNA Training continually creates and updates training materials and programs that meet the changing needs of the environmental remediation industry, emphasizing safety and skill development. Programs cover all types of jobs, including asbestos, lead, hazardous waste, radiological, microbial, and even anthrax remediation. Other environmental programs train workers who respond to disasters, remove underground storage tanks, and cleanup chemical and oil spills. Training is offered at both worker and supervisory levels, and an annual refresher course keeps skills sharp.
Course content is comprehensive: each topical area includes instruction for knowing and effectively teaching hazard recognition, health risks and effects, safe material handling, personal protective equipment, worksite monitoring, hazard communications, and worker legal rights, among others. Training. All courses include extensive hands-on exercises on mock job sites, allowing students to practice work tasks while becoming familiar with personal protective equipment and suits.
