Training you can trust.
LIUNA Training programs feature several well-respected industry and professional credentials:
- International Accreditation Service (IAS) independent accreditation of our trade curriculum
and instructor training program. - Government accreditation or trade certification in industry specialties.
- American Council on Education (ACE) recommendation of our programs for college credit eligibility.
Whether it's training curriculum, program development, or the actual skill acquisition, our programs, staff and students work up to the highest independent standards practiced in the construction trade and education profession. This level of quality commitment remains in force at LIUNA Training as we continuously refine our operations and maintain our accreditation standing.
Independent IAS Accreditation
In 2008, IAS awarded accreditation of the LIUNA Training instructor training program and curriculum development process. Since then we have achieved reaccreditation through 2011, completing a rigorous review and further demonstrating our commitment to quality. IAS Curriculum Development accreditation sets independent criteria for establishing learning objectives; developing training materials that meet those objectives; and conducting program measurement and improvement. Accreditation of our Instructor Training Program means that instructors learn and demonstrate best industry and adult education practices and participate in continuous learning. Moreover, IAS Accreditation requires LIUNA Training to implement a quality management system of written operating procedures, sound professional practices, clearly defined lines of authority, and routine audit and metric reports that support decision-making and resource allocation. Understandably, earning IAS accreditation – and reaccreditation – is a proud achievement for LIUNA Training and a benefit to our stakeholders.
Construction Skill-based Certification
Capable instructors are essential to the training of a safe and skilled industry workforce. With our training, instructors receive double quality assurance. First, the teaching methods and the content of our industry skills curriculum and instructor professional development are IAS accredited. Second, instructors obtain industry or government certification to teach many industry specialty skills under approved workforce training programs. Examples include the American Concrete Institute (ACI) trainer and examiner certification for Concrete Technician and Flatwork Finisher; Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) accreditation as approved Asbestos Abatement training providers; and OSHA Construction Industry Outreach Trainer certification.
American Council on Education
LIUNA Training courses provide construction craft workers with critical industry skills, knowledge and abilities and our curriculum gives instructors the tools needed to conduct effective training. Together, curriculum and instruction produce quality education and training on a level with other post-secondary educational institutions. The American Council on Education (ACE) agrees. After reviewing course materials and training program requirements, ACE approved college credit recommendation for each of the thirteen LIUNA Training course applications. This puts our courses at a level considered by ACE to qualify for college credits toward majors related to construction technology or management and environmental technology. Students who successfully complete an ACE approved program may apply to an institution of higher learning, such as a community college or university, to obtain college credits. Once more, this speaks to the caliber of LIUNA Training learning and the respect it commands in the industry.
